We've been busy

Garden Wedding at the Hilton Park Lane

The Inspiration - Midnight Overgrown Garden

Our inspiration for the wedding was an overgrown garden, set at midnight. You may remember some of the images we posted after New Year that we took at Dartmoor House and the beautiful outdoor scenery. The gardens were covered with tree roots, ivy and moss.......perfect to get our idea's flowing.

Word on the street is that the Hummingbird Bakery is soon to be opening a new store on Islington High Street ♥

Currently our shop window is displaying some of lovely Peggy Porschen's wedding cakes....with looks and tastes to die for!

It's such a shame that Magnolia Bakery in NYC only delivers nationwide as I would love one of their cupcake's on the month.....Lemon Coconut.

Bornay, located in Barcelona, Spain is someone we follow because of their beautiful flower displays and their creative outlook on breathtaking arrangements. We especially like their recent work inspired by the contemporary artist Joan Miro, who funnily enough we are also seeking inspiration from for our own wedding.

Jose Villa is a fine art photographer, capturing uniquely intimate moments all around the world. He has been published in many magazines including Inside Weddings, Brides Magazine, Modern Bride Martha Stewart Weddings & many more.

Jose not only photographs weddings but also creates wedding films, he is brilliant at seeing the beauty in real life situations. Have a look for yourself.....

You may not be able to walk down the aisle in them, but, oh my are these amazing! The new pastel collection from YSL look good enough to eat!

The Look - We Love....

We are in love with this beautiful greek goddess look that Valentino was creating on the spring 2012 catwalk.

Having your hair braided like this for your wedding creates a perfect mix of elegance and high-fashion.

Make sure you create lots of texture and volume to the plait and you could always try adding small flowers or hair accessories between the braids for an added touch of glamour.

The Inspiration - Regal and Ravishing

Who knew that turning 30 would be such a fabulous year?! After all Kate Middleton has done just that this year and there is no doubt in our minds that her birthday would have been a night to remember. Our inspiration for today is about the glamour and celebrating in style....whether you're a Duchess of not!

We were lucky enough to create a gorgeous bouquet for Kate's appearance at the 'War Hose' premier this week, keep watching as we shall upload the images next week.

A party should include fantastic food, cocktails & of course flowers. The image above is of a wedding show we did at Burghley House, but this scene would work perfectly for a party or a 30th Birthday.

The BAOD Flower School

BAOD will soon be launching an innovative and prestigious flower school, which will give students the opportunity to receive insightful knowledge and hands on experiences with flowers......taught by the duo themselves!

There will be a selection of classes to choose from and each will be equipped to suit anyone with an interest in flowers.

One Day Classes

DIY BAOD Wedding flowers

Students wishing to do their own wedding flowers will learn how to create the perfect bouquets & buttonholes and also receive advice on mixing colours and matching your bouquet to your dress.

BAOD Flowers at home

This one day course will guide students through simple and practical designs, perfectly designed to embellish your home, be it for a hallway or dining table.

BAOD party/event flowers

Tony and Javier will teach students how to create incredible table centres for informal events or dinner parties as well as offering advice on how to compliment flowers with styling, colours & using flowers to maximise on cost.

The Inspiration - Dartmoor House

During the Christmas break Javier and Tony took a trip down the coast to Dartmoor House in Devon. Apart from an enjoyable break & some well needed relaxation, the beautiful gardens were full of raw inspiration for their next idea.

The Look - Back to Nature

Lucky you.....here is a sneak peek of the By Appointment Only Design's new book which will be launching this year!

The use of firs, berries and a collection of raw materials helped create a natural and organic look however, to keep it contemporary various grey tones and fabrics have been incorporated....who said a woodland look couldn't be edgy?!

How to make it fabulous......try to use different shaped plates rather than a simple round or square and different textures make it more visually appealing.

WE have finally launched our flower courses!

Tony and Javier our creative directors will both be teaching a range of courses from our Chiltern Street Boutique. Students do not need to have previous floral experience and will be given all the materials needed, and will even take the flowers they put together home.

As many of your know our signature style inludes only using blooms and no foliage. Students will be shown how foliage can be incorporated into their designs, . Our classes are particularly practical and very easy to follow.
